Everyday it seems like a new revelation. Unauthorised springs inserted into a child’s back. Staff reporting a toxic environment. the scoliosis scandal. Now it appears surgical intervention for undescended testicles wasn’t carried out in a timely manner leaving boys at risk from cancer and infertility.

HSE intends to meet gardaí to discuss internal CHI report

The Health Service Executive has said it has decided to refer matters raised in the internal Children's Health Ireland report to An Garda Síochána and intends to meet gardaí very shortly to discuss it.

So shocking, but TBH I'm not terribly surprised at the toxic environment of the God Complex consultant world. It's the effect on the children and the total mismanagement and lack of accountability so far in relation to treatments that is off the scale.

The HSE appear to want CHI back. Now the HSE is not perfect, but it seems to have a professional and experienced role in the management, culture, finance etc. of those areas under its remit.

Something is very rotten in the State of Denmark.

There appears to be no repercussions for those who should be held accountable. Will this Gardai investigation happen? What is in this unpublished report that has so shocked the government?

As for accountability, I'm sure that will come eventually if the investigation warrants it.

I've no idea what the report contains apart from what has been revealed already. However I believe CHI is a public body and therefore subject to FOI, and presumably the journos will investigate via that channel. I've a feeling a lot would be redacted though, but it will have to be made public, the parents will surely demand this.

If I were to guess about the investigation I suspect it's financial. Read between those lines.....

Sadly @zenaethere is no accountability in Ireland. Ever !

Having observed scandals in Ireland over many years

Izzadoraduncancan · 06/06/2025 12:55

That’s my thoughts too @deeahgwitchsadly. CHI will be absorbed into the HSE, a few wrists slapped and back to usually. Maybe the new CEO will step down? It’s seems to be their role in these matters

Have spent too much time in all of children's hospitals I think the faster they move into one building with one management team the better. Temple St is so different to Crumlin which is different again to Tallaght. Its chaos, and DS ended up with emergency surgery due to communication failures between the different clinics at different hospitals.
