If you went to the bank and skipped mortgage in principle part and just went straight in for mortgage approval…how long did it take? Thank you.

How much of a mortgage do you require? 50% 75% 90%?

I know a couple (friends of friends) who used a mortgage broker - they outlined their requirements and he did the research - he advised how long each size and type of mortgage would take to be approved. In the end, they went for 75% (fixed rate for a few years) and it was approved in less than 2 weeks.

A bit less than 80%

Yeah there’s very little traffic here on the Irish chat.

I didn't know you could do that!

But now that I think about it, when I got my first mortgage 25 years ago I don't remember getting AIP.

To speed things up, have all your documentation ready e.g. payslips, bank statements, credit card statements, savings statements, list of any major monthly outgoings, proof of deposit etc. Chasing down paperwork slows things down. Best of luck!!

All done 🙌 we went straight to our own bank so we didn’t need to get a lot of accounts as most of them are held with them. Yes, I think paperwork is the area where a lot of things get held up so hopefully if we can keep up our side then it shouldn’t take too long. Thank you.🥰

Update!!! We got our full mortgage offer sent out yesterday! That was a little over two weeks (and the mortgage advisor was off for the first few days after we went to the bank for our initial consult. Not too shabby 🙌🙌
