Satchwell murder trial

I’m away on holiday at the minute so haven’t been following the trial too closely, but the updates I’m seeing online are suggesting a really bizarre relationship and dynamic.

Then again, the testimony of a man accused of murdering his wife and hiding her body in her own house for several years is bound to be divisive.

Would anyone like to discuss the trial? Let’s keep it to trial events and not speculation, if possible?

It was awful. May she RIP.

I actually went to the Central Criminal Court to watch the trial. I only spent an afternoon there. One thing that struck me was that Satchwell sat in the dock all smiles with his brief, and honestly he looked like he hadn't a care in the world. Very strange. Her family were behind me in a row, all very dignified and it must have been awful to have to sit through that.

I suppose we never know what the jury will decide. The fact that they were out for so long had me thinking that there's one or two who feel he's innocent. Anyway it was the correct verdict.

I wonder if he can/will appeal.

He seemed to be on the news constantly a few years back, sad faced, holding a photo of Tina, appealing for information. It was so obvious he had killed her and he seemed to love being in front of the camera. Weirdo

I went for an afternoon too. Wasn't impressed by him at all. Glad justice prevailed for poor Tina.

I don’t think he can appeal unless there is new evidence, or an argument is made about evidence/witnesses that were or weren’t permitted. There was only one defence witness called, and she was very honest about saying her initial statement to the Gardai was on the basis of what she believed at the time but, knowing now what she knows, her position had changed.

The family gave special mention to the all-female prosecution team, who put forward a very strong case despite being unable to confirm how poor Tina died.

O hope there is a case review of how the house was not searched invasive in 2017. Kudos to the detective (female) who reopened the case, got it escalated to a murder investigation, and secured the resources to commission the forensic specialist (female) whose area of expertise is concealment of domestic homicides.

RIP Tina. So glad to see this over.

I gather that Tina Dingivan's family prefer us to use her own name rather than the name of the worthless p o s who killed her and attempted to destroy her reputation as well as her life.

And that the worthless p o s hates hearing Tina Dingivan being called by her own name.

RIP Tina Dingivan.

I’m so glad that horrific murderer got life.
Why am I surprised that he blackened her name in court, considering he actually murdered her.

How long is a life sentence in Ireland ?

May Tina Dingivan rest in peace.

SallyDraperGetInHere · 06/06/2025 00:35

His barrister indicated the defendant intends to appeal the murder conviction.

Life tends to be long in Ireland, average is over 20 years.
He is going to be a long time in prison.

It seems to me he has no basis for appeal,

Psychoticbreak · 06/06/2025 09:30

20 years is not long enough for taking another persons life. This man is literally a walking psychopath. Compulsive liar. Probably believes his own lives. I would say he made that poor womans life a misery for years the controlling prick.
He will appeal sure look at O Reilly and O Dwyer appealing and wasting tax payers money convinced they will get out. I hope all three die in prison I really do.

Joe O’Reilly is already 18 years in prison (I cant remember if he was on remand before the trial) and is a long long way from being a free man. Can you imagine being related to Nicki Pelley who by all accounts is still wasting her life on him?

Dwyer I think will spend longer is prison because there is such a disturbing sexual element to his offending.

I can’t see any of them being free before they are frail and elderly.

Psychoticbreak · 06/06/2025 12:58

Yeah he was refused parole 4 times so far but he can try again late next year. Absolute cretin renacting the horror he put his poor wife through. I can't believe Pelley standing by him. I mean he killed his wife 21 years ago, been in prison for 18 years as you say. She could and should have moved on with her life instead of wasting it on a prick like him but takes all sorts I guess.

deeahgwitch · 06/06/2025 14:12

Life should mean life.
Full stop.
