Passport photo with big hair?!

DS 17 trying to get Irish passport renewed. We have tried everything photowise including going to photography shop that specialises in passport photos and we cannot get his passport photo to take in a way that pleases the system. Initially they thought it was his white tshirt he went back in a black one etc.

I've been trying to take them myself at home today and noticed it seems to autocrop before his hair finishes. His hair is quite large (curly, high on top if that makes sense - a bit llama-ish. Has anyone else blessed with big hair had this problem? I am trying to persuade him to scrape it back/ put it in a Gareth Bale little ponytail (is this even allowed?) but he's gone into a sulk now because we have literally been taking his photo for days before this latest brainwave (if it even is a brainwave..).

Yes, DD, I had to rush out of the Photo Booth in Sainsbury’s to go and buy a hair bobble to tie her hair back, it was fine tied back, but having the same problem before. Not quite so normal for a boy though to have hair tied back so a bit different.

Ah thanks! Yeah it will look weird but I guess as long as the computer is happy!

I've big hair, had to flatten it back to get the photo approved. To be honest, I'd do whatever it needs to get approved, the photos are awful anyways, between the hair and not smiling etc, at least they're small on the passport. You'd hardly notice the hair now.

Goodness, what would happen if he had an afro? I'm surprised the system is so flawed.

If it makes him feel better, i had to quit Airbnb as the computer said no, apparently my face isn't my face. I tried multiple times every angle and light but it kept rejecting saying I didn't match my photos on file. I had to contact them to ask a human to look at my photo and confirm it was me, I eventually managed to get someone who told me they couldn't override the system and there was nothing they could do. So I will forever more be unable to book with them, even if I could I refuse to do business with them.
