Hotel near Rosslare

Does anyone know of any hidden gems within a short drive of Rosslare? Looking to stay over the night before a ferry journey.

All the hotels I’ve come across are ridiculously expensive for nothing very special or with very mixed reviews.

Whitford House Hotel is a lovely family run hotel, it's outside Wexford town and probably about 20 minutes from Rosslare Harbour. We've enjoyed bar food there and never had any complaints. Prices will be high though if it's summer time you're traveling.

Thanks. Anywhere nice like this doesn’t seem to have availability. I don’t know if I am trying to book too early (for August) or if places are genuinely booked out already. I only want one or two nights and I suspect they get lots of bookings for full weeks in the summer.

I wouldnt say you're trying to book too early and usually 2 nights wouldn't be a problem but is it a weekend? The hotel would be very popular as a wedding venue so that might be it. The Talbot Hotel in Wexford town is also lovely.

I’ve heard good things about Kelly’s. Not exactly a hidden gem so you’re probably looked at it already.

Thanks both. I’d already checked these two and they were booked out for my dates.

It’s a Sunday night which usually is not a busy night (weekend crowd have left, business travellers have not arrived).

I’ve provisionally booked somewhere that looks nice in the photos but has fairly bad reviews. I’ll see if there are any more recent reviews closer to the time. I’ll have to change my travel dates if I don’t find anything….

Kelly’s Hotel Rosslare is lovely but certainly not a hidden gem.

I just thought of something earlier, the Fleadh Cheoil 2025 is on from Sunday August 3rd till Sunday 10th. If your dates are those then you'll do well to find anything else, the rooms were all booked up as soon as they announced it would be in Wexford again, and that was last August. About half a million people will descend on Wexford, it's a crazy time.

Kellys is lovely but always booked up whenever I try to go there.

We've stayed in the Newtown Park hotel a couple of times over the years. It was a Maldron previously but seems to have changed ownership. It was always very nice anyway and a good location. If you get desperate there are glamping options in IOAC near Rosslare!
