Where to marry?

My fiancé (first time writing that!) and I think we want to elope. (Can we call it that if we want our 5 yo DS to be there too?)

Anyway looking for ideas for where we could make this happen. Any recommendations for really nice registry offices in north or south of Ireland? Or other ideas? We don't want any fuss but want it to feel a bit special.

Congratulations.

Does it have to be in a registry office? Maybe a special venue. I've seen couples especially Americans come to Ireland and have a private wedding with just two members of staff as witnesses at Waterford Castle which is on an island in Waterford City.

You could go across to Gretna in Scotland, they are experts in elopement and small weddings, kitch but lovely

Thanks for replying! I've thought about Scotland but with notice periods etc I think staying in Ireland is probably better. Also kinda want some level of sentiment so again staying home appeals. Will look up Waterford castle - thank you- although a castle feels scarily fancy!

The staff there are very welcoming and friendly. It's near me and I go there for dinner about 4 times a year as it's a real treat. Nothing scary about it. You get a drive on ferry across to it, only takes a couple of minutes. There's also holiday homes on the island.

Do Dublin City Hall for the ceremony and then stay a night somewhere really nice like the Merrion
