War in Ukraine/Russia is ramping up significantly. Which political party would you feel safest leading Ireland during this period?

Taeandcraic · 20/11/2024 09:48

For me Independents & AontĂș.. I can't see Michael Collins or Peadar Toibin doing anything to escalate or draw Ireland into conflict.
We are very close to the UK & Keir Stamer does not fill me with confidence.
I world not feel safe if SF, FF, FG or with any of the left leaning parties were leading us through this period.
I'll be voting taking European security into account.

@Marblesbackagain we seemed to have gained you & lost @Brownwitch ... Interesting & both with the same stance..
You (both??!) should really volunteer for organisations like Belong To or TENI especially coming up to an election!

You never ever had me sweetheart 😘

The childish reaction clearly shows your true colours. I volunteer with a large number of organisations that align to my beliefs, I have so for well over thirty years, so you?

Taeandcraic · 22/11/2024 11:18

Brownwitch · 22/11/2024 11:13

That is a good tool @mollyfolk
some interesting questions I had not considered but my results came up similar to how I intended to vote, although in a slightly different order

I did it too, as predicted my results were AontĂș & Independent not that I would need an AI tool to tell me how to vote😁 Thankfully I have a mind of my own & am able to see which party aligns with my views through my own opinions & research!

And that's fine, Peadar can rant from the cheap seats.

LolaJ87 · 22/11/2024 11:21

whichcandidate.ie is a fab resource, that asks political opinion questions and shows you how your local candidates answered. It is not an AI tool and saying that is disingenuous.

You only seemed to join mumsnet this morning or are you busy changing your username. Yes I volunteer locally & within my childrens schools & always have done!
However your agenda is very clear, there were a number of similar "volunteers" on a number of platforms in the lead up to the election.. Lobbying for yes/yes at all costs.. Look how that turned out for you lot!

@Taeandcraic that's great for you. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and their free vote.
I do not agree with your opinions but I respect that you can have them I respect the democratic process.

Can you define a woman @Brownwitch ?

I agree @MothToAnInferno . I live in one of the most left leaning constituencies. I live in a complete bubble between my job in an industry of what some might call "wokeness" and with my children in an educate together school.

And I can't even count the number of trans people I know on one hand. They are such a tiny minority that I can understand by the vast majority in the country aren't interested in this issue either way.

I raise my eyebrows when someone talks about "common sense" politics - something so self evident that it shouldn't be up for debate?
I also raise my eyebrows when people want to "protect women" by hating on some other marginalised group.

I think a lot of it is just fear, although they would never admit it or even recognise it.

😂😂😂😂 am in Mumsnet over 17 years. I have thousands of posts under two names this and marblessolveeverything. Given your challenge in research it certainly explains your comments.

You have no idea what I have campaigned on. Honestly your jumping to conclusions is very concerning. I suggest you start to have a little insight because the above is genuinely very concerning for a so called adult.

But for your information I have campaigned for divorce, abortion twice, women's rights to pension equality, anti hunting, animal welfare, access to support for children and adults with autism ane invisible disabilities, several education together schools, same sex marriage and a host of hundred of other campaigns that I believe in.

I support literacy in my community work in third level and am in several international groups working on education for all worldwide.

Anything else you want to know?

It's very concerning that so called adults can't say out loud that a woman is a biological female.. Which is the majority of our politicians & certain posters on mumsnet.

You said you supported same sex marraige. Great so did I. But are you lumping the tqs into the lgb community?

@Brownwitch what is a woman?! According to science & Peadar ToibĂn & AontĂș a woman is a biological female! Why can't you answer this?! Don't dare try to comment on women's rights when you can't actually define what a women is đŸ€Ł

@Taeandcraic this thread you started definitely seems to be a not so thinly veiled "our saviour Peadar ToibĂn and AontĂș will protect us from war and trans people". It's... odd. Especially the repeated quizzing anyone who doesn't agree with you and repeating yourself. Did you not want to start a conversation or do you just want everyone to think the way you do?

mollyfolk · 22/11/2024 11:45

Well done on your work @Taeandcraic . Sounds like we agree on most things and you've as much right to self identify as feminist as anyone else.

I don't think anyone is taking the what is a women bait on this thread. Maybe your next name change could be taeandzerocraic

Well hopefully I'll be having my "tae and zero craic" in the all female only spaces that AontĂș is very strongly lobbying for, with uncensored speech surrounded by females who know full well that women don't have penis. ☕ cheers

Why are you not acknowledging the communities own decision how they align?

Most of my lgb friends in fact all want nothing to do with the tq brigade especially my lesbian friends so yes I am acknowledging their concerns & genuine fears.
They no longer attend pride as it's been taken over by the tqs.. This is the perspective from the lgb community I know. Some are parents & are very concerned like many of us about the tq ideology pushed in schools & do not want males in their daughters female only spaces.

You really don't get it so you.

Jumping up and down making assumptions on people because they won't get into a bun fight which at last count was in the thousands of threads.

Why do you need to know what we believe? We addressed the Op but every single thread what is a woman, what is a woman. Ironically to women.

You don't agree obviously with our opinion and ? ???

So here you go here is the chatgpt response because you seemingly struggled to use Google.

When answering the question "What is a woman?" you can approach it from different perspectives, depending on the context. Here are a few ways to frame the answer:

  1. *Biological Definition*:
From a biological standpoint, a woman is an adult human female, typically characterized by two X chromosomes, reproductive anatomy that includes structures such as ovaries, and the ability to produce ova (eggs). However, it's important to note that biological sex can have variations, and not all women may fit this description due to intersex conditions or other factors.
  1. *Gender Identity*:
From a social and psychological perspective, a woman is someone who identifies as female. Gender is distinct from biological sex and is shaped by cultural, personal, and social factors. People may be assigned female at birth but identify as male, or they may be assigned male at birth but identify as women (trans women).
  1. *Cultural and Social Roles*:
In many cultures, a woman is someone who takes on specific roles, responsibilities, and expectations traditionally associated with femininity, such as caregiving, homemaking, or nurturing. These roles are often shaped by historical, social, and cultural contexts and vary widely across societies.
  1. *Legal or Social Recognition*:
In modern societies, being recognized as a woman can also depend on legal and social recognition, which may include identification documents, legal rights, and societal acceptance. Trans women, for instance, are women who may undergo social, medical, or legal processes to transition to the gender with which they identify.

A well-rounded answer should acknowledge the diversity of experiences and perspectives that exist, while respecting the individual's self-identified gender.

And plenty, arguably the majority, given the representative bodies stance hold the opposite viewpoint đŸ€·â€â™€ïž

What is a woman @mothtoaninferno

You are barking up the wrong tree. I am gender critical. I just don't actually think it is a major issue. For the most part I don't care. I think the level of time some people give this issue does nothing but breath life to it. I hear more from gender critical people banging on about 'what is a woman' than I do from trans people wanting any slice of your pie. It's gross that some people would throw womens healthcare under the bus is their quest against the 100 or so people a year that request to change their birth cert.

I've always been gender critical but the more nonsense I hear from people like the ones who would vote for people against healthcare or were celebrating a sex offender getting into power in the US because he knows what a woman is, the more I think cop on, you are no friend of women.

Gender & sex are two different things. Sex can not be changed & I am very happy that language is now changing to male & female as that is unchangable.

Gender is an ideology & something one imagines about themselves. That does not mean that others need to believe their ideology about themselves or allow the person with the gender ideology access to spaces of the opposite sex at the discomfort & safety of the sex in their rightful space.
