Got two of these as a gift...are they accepted in shops, ie larger stores or will I need to lodge to bank?

Plenty of shops say no to £50 notes, I'd just pay them in to your account.

Big retailers might take them but when I had them I lodged them to my bank account.

Itsannamay · 26/10/2024 22:43

Supermarkets should take them...they will probably check them.

Thanks all, will try supermarket, if no luck will lodge into account. Thanks

I've never had a problem with €100 notes, but perhaps don't use them to buy just a packet of chewing gum.
I sold a car once and was paid in €500 notes, I lodged those into the bank ASAP! Too afraid I'd lose them.

Ah brilliant, no I won't just buy chewing gum lol
Wow I would have been afraid the 500 notes were counterfeit! I don't think I've ever seen one! Where have you used 100 euro, Dunnes, Lidl, Tesco etc?

Was once in Austria and in a small cafe when I watched someone pay their bill with a €100 note. The server didn't bat an eyelid and put the money into her moneybag and gave the person their change. I believe they did away with the €500 notes as they were much loved by Colombian drug dealers so I was told.

PucaBandearg · 28/10/2024 20:29

I've used them in the supermarket, and also paying for TV in DID (I think, maybe Power City).

Yes I believe the €500 notes are long gone, not sure about €200 notes.

Duplicate post... why MN 🤔

RevelryMum · 12/11/2024 16:56

I would lodge them in the bank if I was still working in retail I wouldn't take them

I work on a supermarket checkout and we accept €500 notes. I see €100 regularly.
