Day in Dublin with a 9 year old

Later this month I will have a full day in Dublin with my 9 year old. We’ll be there early as we have to drop DH to the airport first and then plan to spend the day in Dublin. I would be grateful for any advice on fun things to do with him!

The Viking Splash tour is fun.

My 9 year girl loved Kilmainham Jail. The zoo?

Viking Splash and the jail both sound good. I should have said we did the zoo last year so want to try something different this time. Thanks for the suggestions!

If you’re thinking of Kilmainham Gaol you need to book fast - the tickets sell out very quickly.

If you don’t mind heading out of town Explorium is very good.

Dublinia is good too

Also adding - make sure you book on the official website - there is currently a scam website (kilmuin.cfd) which looks exactly like the proper one and appears as the first link on some browsers. If there seems to be a lot of availability it’s likely you’re on the wrong site.

Thank you for all the suggestions! I booked Viking Splash this morning and was glad I looked when I did as some of the tours were fully booked already for the day we’re going! The Explorium looks brilliant so may consider that but will chat to DS about the options and see what he thinks!
I was looking at options for parking earlier, any suggestions where is best to park near St Stephen’s Green?
