Hi,

Myself and the family are hoping to move to the Republic of Ireland next year for a plethora of reasons and I am finally, hopefully, getting my citizenship!

Does anyone have any advice on getting a mortgage in ROI with no history, with a previous UK mortgage and credit history? Or do you have to rent and totally rebuild a credit history etc.... from scratch or get a non-resident mortgage? Google searches are confusing me a bit ! I'd appreciate if anyone with real experience doing this could point me in the right direction.

Will be looking in Co. Wicklow, so if you have any advice on the area too that would be lovely! (I am from a Kerry family, so I know nothing of the area but need to be an hour or so from Dublin.)

Thanks so much!

Back in 2006 I moved back to Ireland with my English husband, we had bought in England so had a mortgage history. There was no issue getting mortgage in Ireland. The sale of our UK home was also used as our deposit. My husband was also still working in the UK and they used his UK salary and job more than mine which was only a new position and I as still on probation. Although I was Irish I had no credit history in Ireland because I had moved to the UK straight from College.
