Hello
My son is doing TY and I am looking for options/ideas of any courses that I can enroll him in. There are a couple of courses organised by the schools but I am looking for further options that he can do during this year. We live close to Dublin/Kildare and Meath. I have been searching online but a lot of the links are not updated and showing courses that finished last year and prior.

If the TY course doesn't include a first aid preferably a first responder course then I'd recommend doing one. If they do the one day refresher course every two years then it looks good on a CV but it's an important life skill and you never know when it could be needed.

My DS1 helped deliver a baby on a garage forecourt last year. The baby was delivered a few minutes before the fire brigade arrived. He'd never even seen an animal give birth let alone a woman. 😂He did a first aid course with the civil defence plus if a member of the civil defence you could be volunteering at events.

Driving skills courses are usually a big hit. There's a video doing the rounds of a school in Westmeath or Meath where the TY students made a video on driving awareness.

Public speaking or drama may be other options.

It depends on what the school are offering, most offer enterprise, cookery, budgeting, may also include some of the above.

Some schools have an arrangement with a local nursing home where the students go in once a week and befriend an elderly person for a chat or teach the elderly person basic computer skills.
