Anyone else likely to be affected? Hopefully it can be resolved before it really kicks off.

We've a multi city trip planned so a juggle of accommodation. Plus kennels for the dog / airport parking / booked excursions etc etc!

I'm trying not to focus on it. I hate airline travel, but Dh is obsessed with the foreign holiday. I am not afraid of flying but its more the crowds and queues etc. I get genuine stress dreams about it and have had a few bad experiences myself. Only small joy is that I'm flying out of Cork and its much easier than Dublin to manage. ILs are less than 10 min drive away so we are not stranded. No idea of what to do at the other end if it happens. I'd rather not go to be honest. I hate the heat anyhow.

Frankly, I feel bad for Aerlingus. Most pilots are paid 250k, yet are holding the airline hostage during tourist season so they can demand a 25% increase. Like who gets 25.%, ever?
shame on the pilots.

we’re due to fly on holiday on Friday.. just missing the strike, and so far we’re not on any cancelled list but I am nervous! We’re actually flying back with Ryanair so if we can get out Friday we’ll be fine.. so am very worried every time I open my email !

hopeishere · 22/06/2024 07:13

We are going on 3 July so they've not said what's happening then just up until 2 July.

Magnalux · 22/06/2024 12:43

Yea it’s hard to have sympathy for them! It’s going to be a nervy few days

Our flight is cancelled. Annoyingly our return is with Emerald airlines which is not meant to be affected so it leaves us a dilemma.
Not sure what to do - we can change to another flight and pay an extra £600, which they are supposed to refund (but when?) or we can cancel and apparently also apply for compensation. It's not the end of the world if we cancel as it's a trip to see family, so we could rebook when things settle (or fly Ryanair).

We are stuck in this nightnare. We are abroad. Flight home cancelled after we arrived here. Could rebook with AL for 3 days after we were supposed to fly home. The stress.we have travel insurance TG.
The pilots are being totally ridiculous. Id bet they are annoyed they are no longer the top earners in society and give us more. I mean 77k starring off plus perks rising to 200k plus is hardly poverty. I find the entitlement astonishing. Id bet they are getting it in the neck from friends and extended family to sort this. It's a total disgrace . The date of impact the first Saturday the kids off school is akin to christmas flights. I am on tenterhooks regarding emails of our rebooted flight cancelled. We were at Dublin Airport flying out and saw packs of what looked like young LC girls heading to Faro. Sure those girls wouldn't have a bean between them for more accommodation til they get home. Another thing is peoples meds like heart meds abroad. I'm down to the wire here with prescribed meds . Weddings abroad etc I am disgusted at the pilots woe is me . If we get back on the rebooted flight I an behind AL all the way
