Any other LC parents on MN?
How is it going in your house?

DS was ok with English p1, happy with p2 (the poets he studied came up & he'd prepped for the hamlet question).
The maths paper 1 suited him perfectly so he reckons he's on for a h2 with that, after last year's fiasco it was a relief!
Fingers crossed the rest of them go just as well 🙏🤞

I'm way off LC (only starting secondary in Sept) but best of luck with it for your son. And I hope he has a great summer when it's over!

MILLYmo0se · 08/06/2024 17:40

JC in this house and god I'm dreading the LC! Good luck to your son - oh the relief when a question and poems you ve prepped come up!

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 08/06/2024 19:06

Our ds is doing the Leaving. Very happy with the poetry section. Not so happy with the Hamlet questions. Did anyone see the question on Hamlet about discussing why this play is a surprisingly positive and hopeful drama? (Wtf nearly everyone dies...) Is that a trick question?
He was very happy with maths but realised today that he didn't see one question and left it out. The layout of the paper confused him. When he told me this my heart dropped to my boots.

Wishing everyone who has kids doing exams the best of luck.

I saw that hamlet question, hopeful! Me arse.

DS is having an almighty panic about the maths paper 1. He has gone from it was easy to thinking he has barely passed.

TaTuirseOrm · 09/06/2024 14:45

Same here @elgreco about the maths, DS came away thinking he did well but now after various postmortems is doubting himself.

@DanielGault I know it's always said, but honest to god it's true.... Secondary School absolutely flies in!! Hope your DC enjoys it 😊

Maths paper 2 and Irish 1 tomorrow, DS is here pacing pacing, pacing..... after Tuesday he'll have broken the back of it & he then has a week's break till his next exams.

Best of luck to everyone for the rest of the exams, JC and LC!

God love him! I know it's not the end of the world like, but it's bloody nerve wracking! I have all the fingers and toes crossed for him.

Roll on Tuesday, my DS will be just over halfway through also, with a decent gap to the next one.

TaTuirseOrm · 10/06/2024 08:51

Best of luck to your DS today@elgreco 🤞

I hope your DS was happy after maths 2 @FuzzyCaoraDhubh, and was able to pick up some marks he may have missed from missing that question on paper 1.
According to the news outlets paper 2 was a very fair paper, DS seemed OK with it from the brief text I got.

Ádh mór do gach duine le Gaeilge anois 🙏

Yes thanks for asking @TaTuirseOrm !
I also got a brief text from my ds to say he was happy with it so that's a relief.
Fingers crossed for Irish paper one 🙏

Best of luck to everyone getting their Leaving Cert exam results today.

Congratulations to everyone who did well and commiserations to those who didn't do as well as they had hoped.

Please don't think this is the end of everything you had your heart set on. There are careers today that were not even pie in the sky ideas when I did my leaving cert. Also, just because you may not have done as well as you expected, doesn't mean that you won't find your niche in this world. There are many many ways to get into careers now that may have been very limited in the past when you had to get a degree or whatever. Be relieved that it's over and you can move on with your life. In 25 years time, not one single person will be asking you how you did in your leaving cert, I promise you!

DD burst into tears as she saw her results... a few seconds of uncertainty before I realised they were tears of joy!
Waiting now for Wednesday - but we know she is heading for NUIG

Lol I don't think I have ever seen such a waste of money as was spent rebranding NUIG, it's always going to be NUIG

TaTuirseOrm · 23/08/2024 15:46

That's great @Izzadoraduncancan, it's such a relief isn't it 😁
