So sad to hear this, he was such a courageous man. Lovely tributes on the radio at the moment (Pat Kenny show).

RIP Charlie.

Aw that' sad. He seemed like such a lovely man

Taytocrisps · 12/03/2024 10:36

Very sad news. Seems like he's been around forever. He did a lot for the two charities he promoted (the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta). Condolences to his wife Claire, his family and his beloved dog Tiger.

Sincere condolences to his family and friends 🙏 💔

RIP Charlie. 💐

Very sad, though he made it clear in the interview with Brendan O"Connor a couple of weeks ago that he knew he'd be going home soon.

The bed of heaven to him.

@DeanElderberry I love how you say "going home", such a lovely thought and sentiment.

Am just feeling a bit more teary than I otherwise would over the death of someone I did not know personally, as tomorrow is my darling dad's anniversary. He passed 2 years ago (not from MND) and looking at the photos of Charlie toward the end reminded me so much of dad in his final days and weeks.

Very sad news, the voice of my childhood, motor neurone is such a horrible disease, RIP Charlie

Abhannmor · 12/03/2024 14:46

One of my sons just texted about how upset the news made him. Part of their childhood too.
At the anti Iraq war demo in 03 I remember the kids excitedly pointing him out. He was on all the big news stories back then.

Abhannmor · 12/03/2024 14:48

Ps Amazing to think he climbed Croagh Pádraig ! That's a tough challenge.

JaneJeffer · 12/03/2024 15:43

Rest in peace Charlie
