Cost of Ribena!

I did my shopping last night - online- 3 bottle of ribena came to €10.50 with €0.75 as deposit.

I am a bit shocked. I used to get them for €2 each. So even with the deposit it would have been €6.75

I took one of of the trolly.

I love it though and I don't drink/ smoke. We get a take away about every 2 months and I last went to the pub in January so need to treat myself somehow!

The cost of everything is sky rocketing.

It's 50 cents here, 20 there.

It adds up so fast.

It is crazy the costs of things and I also find myself putting things back that would not have cost so much before. When will the prices ever go down and electricity/gas still so high. It is like the government do not even care as they spend 23 million on that stupid referendum.

@BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants I'll be interested to see my next esb bill, we got an email from Bord Gais that their unit rate and standing charge are going down.

But in general so much had gone up in price. I will still buy my beloved Ribena for now though.

I'm not sure where you are but Ribena is £2.75 for 1.5l here.

They have ruined it by adding artificial sweeteners, is it still just sugar where you are?

@Gingerkittykat I'm in Ireland. €3.50 for a 850ml bottle in Tesco. I buy the sugar free one, there are diabetics in the family, and for now that includes me (gestational!) but I like their sugar free concentrate. I hate the sugar free premix carton/ bottle from the shop

I'd love some of the old-fashioned Ribena of my childhood 😍 but suspect the sugar nazis have had their say & it's rubbish now.

@pontipinemum don't forget to bring back your bottles!!! I've bought hardly any bottles since the inception of the deposit scheme, but my teenagers keep throwing their ones in the bin - last week I "made" €1.05 by retrieving their bottles from the recycling 😁

Wait until Lidl have their Swedish week (usually in the summer sometime) and get the blackcurrant cordial. There's lots of sugar in it, of course, but far more blackcurrants than modern Ribena. Lovely stuff with a really intense flavour.
