Anyone watching?
I thought the home in Co. Clare was robbed of a place in the final.
It was stunning.

Oh no was that tonight I thought I had it set to record but it's not there. I'll watch it on the player tomorrow

It was stunning - I'm fantasising about that stove if I ever got to renovate my very shabby 3 bedroom semi - but I would say the house that got through had an amazing feeling which would not necessarily come across on film. The fact that they had only been in it a few years amazed me, it felt so organic and effortless, a home in the truest sense of the word. Both would have been excellent finalists. As I say every year, I wish they divided them into categories so that it was more of a fair fight. The amazing setting and views were a huge part of the Co Clare homes appeal, it would be very hard for any suburban house to compete with that, however well done. As it happens, I wasnt that fond of House 2 in any case but that's kind of besides the point.

I too am fantasising about that stove in house 1 and took screenshots from the telly - how sad is that @theleafandnotthetree.
I really didn't like the third house and was gobsmacked Amanda of the Minimalism raved about it.
Who'd have thought when we consider her views in previous series of Home of the Year
She didn't need to give it such a high score - just buy a few of the artist owner's paintings.

That Clare house was robbed.
Apparently it is owned by the people who run Hazel Mountain Chocolate. The Independent did a feature on it.
I hope they get lots more customers on the back of the show.

I’m watching on catch up or something.
I agree with @LadyEloise1 I preferred home 1. Such a pity it didn’t get through. It was just so calm.

It was Amanda's emotional reaction which led me to my conclusion about if having that feeling or atmosphere that can be hard to convey without being there. I've been in a few houses like that in my life where there is something kind of magical about them and they have probably all had that timeless bohemian, antiquey, arty vibe. I'll be interested to see the competition otherwise because House 1 was so fabulous also, maybe it would have got through another week. I think they should have a wildcard entry to the final, a kind of 'one that got away'. Did I dream if or used they do that?

".......bohemian, antiquey, arty....." just isn't my vibe and I didn't think it was Amanda's either.

I think the paintings rather than the house is what impressed Amanda.

So why give the house a 10 ? 🙄

It was very out of character for Amanda, I agree! It was like she's had a personality change. It was my favourite of the three for sure. I liked no 1 but I felt it was a bit drab or something. I totally got what they meant about the bathroom, it was a weird jumble of colours. I'd also hate to live on such an exposed site in Clare with no window coverings. I get the heebie jeebies at the thought of big black windows with a void beyond.

Another thing is that I thought it'd date very badly. It was too on trend for me.

Maybe it was that house 3 awakened something from her childhood in Amanda , houses do that sometimes and you can have a strong reaction to them if they reflect a happy childhood that you wish you could recapture.

i was surprised at Amanda too I thought she’d hate it, I didn’t love any of this weeks houses. I was surprised that house two scored as high as it did, it was a bit tacky I thought, especially with the fake grass and inflatable hot tub in the back yard, and dont get me started on that shower in the middle of the bedroom!!

Amanda's emotional reaction surprised me too, but of the three houses that was also my favourite one...to experience at least, maybe not to live in.

I kept worrying about the baby potentially falling into the pool in the first house. I know it's fenced off and I'm sure they'll be very careful, but I'd hate to have to keep checking the access gate was locked. The hot tub in the second place had me slightly worried too.

I loved Amanda's suit in the final house! Love the softer hair colour too. I think I missed a series or two, but the last time I looked her hair was black!
Totally missing the point of the thread I know!!😁

Just watched it now, thanks to this post.🙏

I didn't love any of the 3 houses either, but the first one was my preference of the 3 of them, I was shocked Amanda gave the old schoolhouse a 10. I agree, I think she didn't see past the artwork, which is amazing and totally Amanda's vibe, I would love to know the home owner / artist's name.

They are all such stilted and stiff presenters though, Hugh is about the best and even he comes across as very contrived, whatever happened to the bungalow bliss and renovation series he was fronting, I enjoyed those.

I did a quick google and the Cork Examiner came up trumps - Ian Humphreys is the artist @themessygarden

Oh, I know his work - he’s very good, and I know where his house is, but didn’t know it was his. I’ve always wanted one of his paintings…

Thank you LadyEloise, I will look him up, I loved the paintings they had around their home.

I loved the house that went through. It really did seem like a home not a show house and I'm not a country cottage type person normally at all.

Just watched it, I thought the Clare house was amazing, that'd the one I'd pick. The Cork house was very nice too and very homey
I wasn't gone on the Dublin house at all I did like the outside/ inside space though

Just watched episode 2. The first home gave me anxiety about dusting and I’m not into dusting. I loved the garden though. The second I loved could have happily lived there, loved the kitchen , loved everything, and the whole thing was just so beautiful outside. The third I felt Dermot Bannon might just have left, I loved it but it felt like so many renovations that have been on tv recently. Mind you could happily have lived there too. I’ll not say which went through until you all see it.

Oh my @Countmeout I too thought about dusting in House 1 while watching it 😂
Having to pick up all those bits to dust would do my head in.
I too, like Amanda, have driven past those gorgeous houses and wondered what they were like inside. Some have better sea views than others on the terrace.
Far too maximalist for me.
But each to their own.
What a fabulous house to live in - I'd pare it back a bit.
I really liked the refurbished council house - what an amazing job they did.
The Tyrone house was lovely too.
I'm a sucker for a half door, Hansel and Gretel vibe.
Wasn't so keen on his interior colour choices.
Personally I would have given the refurbed House 3 the win in that episode.

@Countmeout totally agree re number three! There are so many architect designed upgrades almost exactly the same.

I loved the little gate lodge but it was too small and the colours weren't for me.

No 1 is too maximalist but all things considered I'm pretty sure that would be my favourite. I'm also think I've actually been in the basement of that house many many moons ago when the previous owners lived in it. I believe it sold for 1.1million pounds!!

The cottage was my favourite, I loved the design of it and the colour palette.

The first house was just way, way, OTT for me - I agree with all that dusting giving me nightmares!
Amanda's stunned silence in the kitchen really made me laugh 😆
Where is it? I couldn't figure that out.

I liked the 3rd house too, just pipped at the post by no. 2 cottage for me.

The house is in Monkstown Co. Dublin, facing the sea. At the Dart station.

Thanks @LadyEloise1, I thought it was probably somewhere that direction but didn't know exactly.
