Union Question

Just wondering if anyone in the know could answer a quick question. In a small business with no HR where the boss is a bully. Only 5 employees. Do the staff have a right to join a union in this situation? This is in Republic of Ireland BTW.

Thanks in advance. Can't find a straight answer on Google.

Yes, everyone has the right to join a union. However, you have to have a certain density to force the employer to recognise the union. If you do join a union and it isn't recognised, you can still get help around your rights and how to deal with situations.

Ok, great that the right is there. Having the density for it to have an affect will be an issue I think. Will Google where to get advice but thanks for that😊

Not at all! We have union recognition in our place so I can't remember what the density is, but call or email the unions and ask them what kind of support they will offer members in places without recognition.

Oh so could still ring up and maybe even get some advice. That sounds great. Thanks. Will pass on this info😊
