It is her 40th anniversary today. Thinking of her and her baby and what could have been for her if society was better in 1984 ❤️

She will not be forgotten

I had heard her name before but I didn’t know what happened to her so I googled her. So very tragic.
I was born to a single mother in the 80’s after that event. The question of adoption was considered but she decided to keep me. We moved to UK in my early years for a good few years and returned.
I never felt there was a stigma attached to my mother having me as an unmarried woman.
It’s incredibly sad that society did change but her death is probably one of the things that pushed society to change.

Sadly, she was just another victim of a fcked up church/state collusion. In a normal society, she would have sought help and healthcare, but the shame was too much. I have a young daughter (younger than Ann) but it gives me a jolt with new eyes when i see things on tv about cases like hers and the Tuam babies. Hopefully we're gone from that barbarity now. RIP Ann.

It was just awful how young a vulnerable she was - still in her uniform and boys on the way home from school found her. Then for her sister to take her life merely weeks after.
