although in my house St Stephens Day is my special day. My family are trained to survive quietly on selection boxes and leftovers and all the screen time necessary for Mammy to sit quietly reading books by the fire. Cups of tea and stuffing sandwiches are the only acceptable interruptions.

I’ve never succeeded in getting much observance of Nollaig na mBan.

Yeah tomorrow is Sunday so I'm leaving everything up until Monday

There is crashing and banging in the kitchen as DH cooks dinner for Nollaig na mBan. I've said I'm not doing the clearing up 😁

I wish this was a thing over the water, it’s such a lovely recognition of the unending work that many women do.

I took myself away solo for the weekend to a cabin by the sea and did nothing but walk, read novels and drink wine by the fire. Then I got home and had to take down the Christmas tree with a mournful 11 year old…

What a lovely idea!

I got to celebrate it for the first time with 5 other women though my sisters and their friends celebrate it every year but they live the other side of the country from me.
