Sales that aren't really Sales

I have my eye on a sofa from a countrywide furniture retailer.
I keep getting emails about their Sale and the wonderful discounts off their products.
It's all bullsh*t as far as I am concerned.
The sofa was never at the RRP they include in their ad, with the price slashed.
The price has remained constant.
It has gone up €100 since March 2022.
I have photographic proof.
The company shouldn't be allowed to falsely advertise.
First world problem I know Blush
But it annoys me.
Rant over.

I’ve half a notion they brought in legislation to stop exactly this. Might be worth a look on citizens information or somewhere like that!

I thought they had too.

There's the Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland. You could contact them.
Or....you could make the shop an offer, if having the sofa is what you really really want, or ask them what the current reduction is......saying you've been looking at it for quite a while.....

I just rechecked the email I was sent today.
It states in big lettering "ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING REDUCED"

Well that's a lie !

Well, it's a quandary OP. You could try calling them out on it, showing them your email and asking for a genuine reduction, appealing to their fairness.
I expect they could get fined for making false claims.

(Not advocating blackmail here, but they are out of order and consumers have rights. Good Luck.)

I mean, show them your photographic proof, not email. Just reread and have seen they put up prices while claiming reductions. Either they're unaware or dishonest. I would look to be having a productive conversation with them, as the goal is to get a reduction on your sofa.

If they're rude or don't have a good explanation, I'd be temped to report.
It's your hard earned money after all.
