Hello lovely Forum,

I am looking for any insights on life on Cork and rough expenses needed please 🙏 A relative of mine has got an offer of 60k and he needs to respond asap, but we both can't figure out whether that would be enough or not.

How much is an average rent of a really basic/small studio and rough expenses perhaps?

We have used several calculators, but we seem to be getting different results so if you have an up to date one, would be also really appreciated ❤️

Hello

60k gross pay is approx 3600 net per month. Check out Deloitte Ireland income tax calculator.

For rental properties look on daft.ie, it will give you a good idea of rents based on location in cork and type of property.

Cork is a nice city, depending on the type of lifestyle, it can be as expensive or cheap as you want. Eating out for lunch for sandwich and soup can cost €10/€15.

Cork airport is fantastic. So quick and easy to fly from and very close to city. Buses and taxis easily available. Lots of daily flights to and from UK.

Cork is a nice, safe and friendly city with lots of beautiful towns and villages close by to visit. Smile

Bear in mind that there’s very little available to rent in Cork, not much is one-bed, and it’s expensive. A lot of the new developments are student accommodation. My sister rents by herself, and has always struggled to find somewhere. A friend has had to find somewhere recently after her house was damaged by flooding, and ended up in a dodgy and expensive cash-only arrangement a long way from the city.
