Patrick did a great job, back to basics about toys and children getting ready for Christmas.
Ryan was too hyped and more about him and adult viewers not the children
Glad it was not filled with sob stories. Last year it was guess their illness/disorder when a child came on. Tonight it was the children and toys.
Feeling it might help him settle into the late late and stay on for another year

I loved Patrick, so natural and patient with the kids, Ryan was so over the top and cringy at times, best toy show in years I think!

I bailed at about 11 but I think he did a great job. Less manic than Tubridy and so I laughed less - but that was laugh at rather than laugh with. This year if I laughed I laughed with. If that makes any sense.

He was trying to help the children do their best rather than making fun of them.

I definitely think he was better. Managed to bridge the gap between kids and adults very well.

I liked him and thought he was better than Tubridy, for a lot of the reasons people already said. Thought it felt a bit more like the old days for me and my childhood of Gay Byrne. I sometimes felt Tubridy came across a bit mean to the kids. Patrick has a kinder personality and seems more genuine. My daughter is 16 and said Tubridy was her childhood and it wasn't the same. We stayed up to the end though. I think she was more tired last night than when she was a toddler. Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and New Year.

RTÉ trying to spring Mrs Brown on us before we can change the channel

Good yes. I panicked for a minute because I couldn't find the remote, longest 60 seconds my life!
I actually dislike the toy show but we watch it every year, even though my dc are grown up they hate to miss it. I thought it got off to a shaky start, but ended up being better than usual. Less musical numbers, more toys, and it was very touching when Patrick got emotional giving that little girl the trip to Disney. Well done all round imo.
