Morning. I am heading to Dublin from NI for the Trinity College open day today with my 16 year old son. I have not been to Dublin really since pre Covid and have no idea where a teenage boy might like to go to eat or where any cool shops/places are. Can anyone recommend any places? We are only there til 7 train home again. Thanks!

I can't recommend anywhere, but you're literally in the centre of town there. There's McDs, pub Grub and nice enough restaurants. Enjoy!

Loads of places to eat in Grafton street, Westmoreland st, college Green. Have a walk around temple bar as well. Enjoy your day I miss Dublin and Trinity is a fab college!

Enjoy the open day. Make sure you go to the talk about applying from NI - it’s really informative. (Last year it was in the global centre - think that’s what it’s called)

Elephant & Castle in Temple Bar would be a popular place for food - likely to have long queues on a busy Saturday mind you.

DS applied to both TCD and UCD so we did two Saturdays in a row this time last year. He’s at UCD now and loving it

Thanks so much everyone. And @PopcornAndGummyBears that’s really helpful to know there is a talk on applying from NI, I didn’t see it on their open day app so will have a wee look now. Glad your son is loving uni life in Dublin. Can’t imagine what it will be like when mine goes!

I hope they have a similar talk this year. It was really helpful. It was absolutely rammed mind you when we went so if it is on, try and get there in good time or you might be perched on a table or crouched in a corner at the back!

Along Nassau st there s lots and lots of places -
Mamas revenge burrito hut is a huge hit with my 16 year old.

The national gallery beside jt had a fab restaurant and lovely open plan seating area (and the gallery is free if you want a browse waiting for the train...)

KC peaches and Kilkenny design also good for hearty meals all along that same strip - and there s an o briens sandwich bar with pizza bagels which is another teen hit around here.

Also plenty of campus food availabe
Enjoy your day!

Gotham Cafe on Anne Street South is lovely, burgers, pizzas, salads, it's the Street connecting Dawson & Grafton Street.

Hope you had a productive day yesterday @cavabienmerci and your DC enjoyed the city and the Uni

cavabienmerci · 05/11/2023 16:27

@PopcornAndGummyBears we did, thank you! We both absolutely loved the college. Got so much useful info from Global room people too re: fees and admissions from NI. And Dublin was looking mighty fine in her Autumn colours. We went to Gotham Cafe @Fluf123 and food was yummy too. Thanks for all the recommendations everyone. Made it a v successful day.

Our DD started a MSc in Comp Sc a few months ago. Great course and loves it (having studied in England and Comp Sc degree in England). It's great that she's able to visit me in NI at weekends now when she has time.

Ensure you look at accomodation location and communte time. DD has a long commute, but will be able to move much closer after the holidays, it's been a tough few weeks for her with that lost time, so fingers crossed for new year. Lots of people from NI there in UCD and Trinity, much better quality tech courses than in NI.
