What's the weather like where you are now?

I'm in the south east and we have very heavy rain. I'm off work sick so luckily can stay at home today.

It's bin day here and on the school run everyone had big rocks on top of their bins 😁 when I got back I donned a massive rain poncho to bring the bins back in. I hope I have them secure enough now for the day now.

I'm in the Midlands & it's rough enough, lots of rain since early, windy, luckily or unluckily my little lad is off sick today so no school run thankfully as we walk to school so we are in watching movies etc hopefully it will be cleared in the morning as he is going back 🙏🏻

Any flight radar followers? There's a couple of planes circling cork at the minute, it must be rough down there already.

West wales here and it’s dry and still but the light is dimming every 10 mins or so. I’m tucked in a valley near rivers, it’s trees coming down that I’m concerned about as that happens every time.

In Cork. Awfully wet. No real wind yet.

fetchacloth · 27/09/2023 09:45

West Midlands. Quite breezy and dark clouds about. Not raining yet but I'm sure it's on its way 🙄

Flights to kerry look as though they are being diverted to Dublin now.

I must dig out the battery operated lights. I think the wind is expected to hit after the rain.

Wind really picking up now here in the Midlands,& rain still going strong,we have a lot of trees across from us so it's quite loud & visual seeing them move in the wind, thank god I can stay in today 😊

BooAutumniscoming · 27/09/2023 12:04

The rain is really heavy here now. The wind is still OK for now. Lots of homes without power already.

South East here also - wind and rain. Didn't even get out of the car this morning at the school car park - abandoned them to the elements Grin

countvoncount · 27/09/2023 12:06

North west here and it's calm but sooo dark and gloomy

LookItsMeAgain · 27/09/2023 12:06

Dublin - quite wet and the rain downpours appear to be happening in waves.

I'd recommend charging up your phones and any other battery devices (like headphones/ear buds) so that if the power goes, you can still listen to music for a while anyway.

Also the power check application might prove useful: https://powercheck.esbnetworks.ie/

Went out and got drenched in the space of five minutes. Rain coming in waves.
Trees down in the area.

honeyrider · 27/09/2023 12:16

I'm in the South-East and it's torrential rain and in the last hour the wind has increased big time. I have to collect children from 3 different schools later and I'll get drenched.

North East here. It's been lashing for hours and it's starting to get blustery. Lovely day for staying in, which, sadly, I won't be doing.

BooAutumniscoming · 27/09/2023 15:54

School run was not too bad for me. Hope everyone else is doing OK.

I spoke too soon! One of the wheels bins decided to try make an escape so I had to go back out to secure it again. The wind is so heavy now and absolutely freezing. Keeping my phone charged just in case.

It's still wild and windy here with lots of trees down.
It stopped raining since before lunchtime.

BatteryPoweredMammy · 27/09/2023 17:24

Far down the south west corner, a mile inland from the coast, so we often get high winds from the Atlantic.

It was torrential rain this morning as we were waiting for the school bus. I drove my car to the end of the drive (200 metres) and we sat inside waiting for the bus to come as there's nowhere to shelter otherwise. 😂

The only meeting I had was called off this morning so I've been home all day. The rain died down and it was quite sunny and not too windy late morning so we took the dog out for a bit.

About 3pm, the wind started up again and it's howling now but at least it's not raining. My friend got stuck trying to drive home earlier as a tree had fallen across her boreen and she had to abandon the car and walk.

Just looking at the poor woman in Draperstown whose car ended up in the flooded river Shock she was so lucky to get rescued
