Just heard the news that she has died. I hope she is at peace, she was very troubled all her life. Mandinka was my college anthem back in the late 1980s.

So sad, poor Sinead.

Remember watching nothing compares to you on top of the pops and everybody wanting to be her.

Nutsabouttopic · 26/07/2023 19:35

What a troubled soul she was. I don't think she was able to recover from losing her beloved son. Hopefully she is at peace now. Always thought she was so beautiful in Nothing compares to you video. Condolences to her children

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 26/07/2023 19:44

Nothing compares to you.
I remember it so well when it came out.
She was a beautiful singer and an amazing person. She had the courage to stand by her convictions. It sounds trite, but she was a true original. There's no-one like her.

Rest in peace, Sinéad. I'm feeling so sorry for her other children. May she be reunited with her son.

I'm so upset to see this. What a beautiful and wild spirit she was. I hope she is at peace now.

JaneJeffer · 26/07/2023 20:16

She was so amazing and so loved.

Bonelly · 26/07/2023 20:36

How right she was and how she was crucified for it. So genuine.

Whoknowswhatanymore · 26/07/2023 20:41

RIP Sinead, I was sad to hear about her passing. What a truly great singer she was. May she be at peace now with her son. 😥

MyFragility · 26/07/2023 20:46

So so sad.

A talented singer and a Mother.

halfpasteleven · 26/07/2023 22:48

A genuine and brave lady who stayed true to her beliefs.

Her song The Emperors new clothes has lyrics that make so much sense tonight.

"I will live by my own policies. I will sleep with a clear conscience. I will sleep in peace."

Sleep in peace Sinead.

Yea Mandinka was brilliant. And her version of Foggy Dew is unreal - Nothing else compares 2 Luke Kelly.

I hope she is at peace with Shane. RIP Sinéad 💐

Got to love Michael D. He always hits the right note. That's a lovely tribute to Sinead.

I have name changed for this as aome of the messages being posted about Sinéad O'Connor on social media today are filling me with anger.

I don't believe she is at peace. I don't believe she is happy to be with her mother. I also don't believe that all of her children will see her in the same way.

I believe she was immensely strong, immensely brave and had suffered immense cruelty and abuse. I am glad she spoke out. I am glad that her wonderful voice allowed her words to be heard and I believe that voice brought healing to many.... but she was not a 'troubled soul' with mental health issues .. she was injured by her family and the institutions that pretended to help her and the label of insanity (mental health issues) was given to her when she told the truth.

halfpasteleven · 27/07/2023 22:42

Thanks for the link.

She sure was brave beyond words in that time.. My heart aches for her tonight- I really feel heartbroken.

I hope she knows we listened. I hope she knows we believed her.
