Just wondering if there are any hidden gem hotels in NI that are reasonable priced. We have stayed at corick house and found it lovely and not too expensive. Have you any recommendations?

Kileavy castle in Armagh. Love the place and been many times when we just want to get away from the kids. They have a spa and do great deals on treatments and overnight stays and the food in the restaurant is to die for.

Killeavy (co Down surely?) is lovely, but the spa is far too small for the size of hotel so I wouldn't choose it if the spa is important to you. It is lovely though, on the edge of Slieve Gullion so lovely walks, and the food is indeed excellent. We got a great price the last time we went as well.

Not an obvious one, but the Salty Dog in Bangor has been taken over and rebranded The Nines. I've only been in for a lunch with the kids but it looked lovely, so might be worth checking out if you wanted to be in a town or by the sea.

No it is definitely Armagh as I drive up from Dublin or we drive down from Belfast (we have two homes) and Slieve Guillion is Armagh. Funily enough though we are actually heading to County Down today for a night away. I have no idea of the hotel though as himself booked but if it is nice I shall post the name when we get there.

@JenniferBarkley yes the food is incredible. We have done the 7 course tasting menu once too and it was amazing although I am still full thinking of it. The bar food is great too. We are back again next month just the two of us for a night away. The spa is small I agree but it has everything you need :)

Try Roe Park Resort in Limavady it's great , nice town close to Derry city and the coast. Really reasonable, has a golf course , spa and lovely hotel.

Killyhevlin hotel in Enniskillen, right on the shores of Lough Erne.

I had to Google and was embarrassed to see the result, who knew Armagh is anywhere near there Blush PIL are just down the road, which is why we go - shortest distance from escape from children to nice hotel Grin Will have to keep my ignorance from DH Grin

LOL I was surprised that Newry was IN Armagh to begin with so I feel your shame lol

Ah it is a great escape place. Great wedding venue too as we have crashed a couple of weddings there. Actually invited to one next month mind but the other two we crashed lol

LadyEloise1 · 28/05/2023 08:53

I never knew Newry was in Armagh and Down ! Blush

Neighbours87 · 29/05/2023 20:19

For those wondering newry is in both County Down and Armagh. The Clanrye river that runs through the town is the boundary line

We stayed in salt house recently in Ballycastle and it was lovely.
