I'm not a fan but i was a bit 'totes emosh' watching his last LLS. He really wasn't the worst, but interested to see Paddy Kielty taking over. The clips from past shows were eye-moistening in parts.

It was lovely but it’s really clear he wanted to go when he spoke to Andrea at the end

It's actually refreshing to see someone go rather than cling on for dear life to the bitter end! Jayney though, the clips of Vicky Phelan....in between all the drivel there was some serious shit.

It was quite serious wasn’t it !! The kids were lovely

majella appears every other episode but she seems to like it on the show

Patrick Kielty will be great

It's a social documentary, less so in recent years but there have been so many segments that had me blubbing on the couch. It was a strange thing to see the 14 years flash in front of your eyes, a bit like Reeling in the Years or something!

Totally! The Vicky Phelan part had me properly in bits, i hope they keep that kind of interview on going forward.

I hardly ever watched it lately but I like RT. He can do serious and sensitive and have the craic.

I wonder is Patrick Kielty is kicking himself for taking the job when he and Cat Deeley could do the much bigger audience Good Morning now that Holly and Phil are gone ?

This Morning is kind of cringe tho, the LLS is a bit more snazzy 😂

I never watched This Morning so I don't know but the economic benefits would be superior I would think.

I've met Ryan a couple of times without knowing who he was and he was lovely and wanted to know about me and not go on about himself. This was before he got the Late Late Show.

He was getting kitted out for his wedding and was with Caroline Morahan for her tv show. My DH was getting kitted out for a makeover on The Afternoon Show so Ryan was chatting to me. Next day I was queuing in the RTE canteen and Ryan was in the opposite queue, he came over to me to make sure I was being looked after and checking if I was enjoying the experience. I only found out who he was about 6 weeks later when he appeared on tv.

A friend met him a couple of times and was invited to his 40th birthday and said he was lovely and that he takes an interest in people.

I know someone who served him in a shop once, like a petrol station shop..a tiny interaction but he was lovely, mannerly and chatty. Refreshingly not up himself in the slightest.

Interesting @Chickenkeev and@honeyrider and nice to know.
I think RT has a great manner.

My grandmother lives over on the south side and we sometimes walk the pier in Dun Laoire. You'd sometimes see RT walking on it, he/we'd nod and continue on. You wouldn't want to disturb his walk. He's entitled to his free time.
I hate those people who annoy "celebrities" out in public. At a gig ( their own ) they're fair game. But not having a stroll or doing their shopping.

I know someone who worked in a shop as a student and a previous LLS host would come in and was totally up himself.

I won't say which one.

honeyrider · 27/05/2023 17:40

I'm baffled why people think Gaybo was a good presenter? He was an arrogant patronising fart who fawned over the guests he liked and his contempt for those he didn't like was obvious.

LadyEloise1 · 24/06/2023 11:01

They say a week is a short time in politics.
It's a month in the entertainment business. Sad

Well now, say it like you mean it 😂 but a very accurate description. I remember my (pretty conservative) mum being horrified altogether at his treatment of Annie Murphy. He hated her and didn't hold back. Poor woman.

Yep that's a classic example yet he was fawning all over Sweetie's trollop.

LadyEloise1 · 26/06/2023 10:55

So if Dee Forbes has resigned that means she doesn't have to appear before a government committee, is that correct ?
If so, that's a mad set up.
She was in charge then.
She needs to answer their questions.

honeyrider · 26/06/2023 11:00

Yep she doesn't have to appear.

🙄🙄🙄
The rules need to be changed.

honeyrider · 26/06/2023 11:18

As she was leaving anyway I reckon RTE will try to pin all the blame on her instead of on all of those who knew what was going on though the book stops with her.

I think that's pretty much it to a tee tbh. Liveline was quite amusing today but some serious fawning over Ryan. Joe much less argumentative than usual.
