How to get a creche place in Dublin?

Hi,

I have applied to loads of crèches for my little one who will be 1 in January but most places just say they will put me on the waiting list or aren't even taking names.

Does anyone have any tips? Getting a bit stressed about it.

TIA

This is the way things are now unfortunately. I am hearing stories of women not getting back to work until their child is 18 months old. We got lucky to get a place for our toddler and because he is in there they will also take our 2 month old next January.
Get your child’s name down on every waiting list you can. Lots of people haven’t realised how bad it is getting childcare yet so you need to get sorted before more people go looking for a place. Our lad was on waiting list a couple months we got a phone call in summer then that they would have a place for him to start in November. So don’t panic.
Start looking in childminders or a nanny as a back up. You’re not looking for a place until your child is one which is good because lots of Crèches are not taking babies anymore so there is a chance of getting one of those places you put the name down for.

Look at the countu childcare committee website. Where are you based roughly?
