Happy St Patrick’s day ☘️ or Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona duit! (As my grandad would say with a tip of his hat.

Happy St Patrick's Day. I've come home to Dublin for the first time in years and I'm very excited and happy to be back ☘️💚🇮🇪

Thinking of my Mam today. She'd buy rosettes for my little brother and I and we'd go into Dublin city with my Dad to see the parade. Then we'd go visit my great-aunt who lived in the city centre. Mam loved that hymn 'Hail Glorious St. Patrick'.

I remember going to the parade in Dublin as a child too. When I lived in England my mum would send me shamrock carefully wrapped up. She is long dead and I now live in Australia but you brought back happy memories. Have a great day.

Today is my grandmother's birthday. A proud Irishwoman, she was delighted to have her birthday today, though very dignified in her behaviour and celebrations. She would be 110 now, if she was still alive. I will raise a glass to her and her son, my lovely father, whose birthday was 15/3 but he died a couple of years ago. Still recovering from losing dad, but can smile when thinking about him.

Happy St Patrick's Day to all my Irish fellow MN'ers and everyone with a bit of Ireland in their heart.

Happy St. Patrick's Day one and all. Pissing rain here so I'm not going to my city's parade.

I'm going to go through my clothes and pick out what I plan on bringing on holiday so I get most of my packing this weekend as I'm planning on visiting my family the other side of the country and doing some clothes shopping next weekend before my holiday.

Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Looking out at typical St Patrick’s Day rain here in England. My sister tells me it’s the same for her in Trim.

I’ve just some back from a month in Australia and brought Tayto crisps back. The airmiles on those crisps are ridiculous! But brought back memories of living across the road from the Tayto factory in Dublin.

Pseudonamed · 17/03/2023 12:32

Im either going out to dinner with DP this evening and having a great time or telling him to go fuck himself and spending a night in a hotel alone. Dinner is booked and all he has done this morning is moan about being tired. I swear if he says he wants a night in I am replacing him.

Happy Paddy's day lords and ladies.

Happy St Patrick’s day from the heart of the EU! Got my Tayto crisps at the ready!

sunsoutagain · 17/03/2023 13:51

My mum is Irish and we lived in England. Every year a day before st Patrick's day we'd get a little box in the post from my aunt in Ireland about the size of a mobile phone, inside it wrapped in cotton wool would be shamrock.

My mum would stand it in water to liven it up and we'd be sent to school wearing a few sprigs on our school jumper and we'd get called out to the front in school assembly to explain what shamrock was to the rest of the school.

Every March we looked forward to that little green box coming in the post all the way from Ireland this was the 1950s 60s

@sunsoutagain that's so lovely ☘️💚

Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone 💚☘💚☘

Anyone watching the Dublin parade on RTÉ1? Partick Duffy a.k.a. Bobby Ewing looks great for 74!

A great saint. We are English ( and so was he,,or at least Romano British) but we always have a dinner in his honour.

Here is his flower ‘ St. Patrick’s day’ , which we grow in our front garden.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

It's not about religion for me. I'd rather be a pagan. But it's a fabulous day to fly our flag and be proud of Ireland.

@honeyrider "Leo has put his foot in it again."
Very disappointed with Leo. I thought he'd be better.
I wasn't expecting much of Mícheál Martin anyway, he was there, around the Cabinet table during the Tiger years and the Crash. He was involved in FF when Charlie Haughey was Taoiseach, and Bertie and Brian Cowan. 🙄
