Hi, am considering a holiday in either ROI or NI during week commencing Monday 29 May. Is that a school holiday in ROI/NI as we might be booking self-catering accommodation at last minute? Thanks

Monday 29th is a bank holiday. So schools closed.

However my school is also closed the Tuesday and Wednesday too for training days.

I'm in NI.

The Irish bank holiday is the first Monday in June and lots of primary schools take the Tuesday as well. The secondary schools start holidays the last week in May.

The may week in the north is hit and miss. Last year my dc had a week off. This year only the Friday before the bank holiday (and then the Monday). Some schools have the Tuesday off. What I would say is that places here are not as booked up/ busy as you would find in other parts of uk.

It's not a BH in ROI, so schools will be open.

Probably not the secondary schools - holidays usually start that week.

The public exams start on June 7th, so secondary schools will need to have closed by 29th to clear the place and allow preparation.

My dd's secondary finishes on June 2nd this year. We are in Ireland.

Bit confusing putting ROI/NI, as being in different countries, they'll have different schedules. In the Republic secondary school children finish on the 2nd of June and primary school children stay in school until late June.
