So the Minister for Education, who wants to tighten restrictions on career breaks for teachers, is ON a career break from her teaching job?? WTAF??

I'm not a teacher, and to be honest I think it's a bit crazy their jobs have to be held open for them for so long, but this is just ridiculous! Hypocrisy at its best 🙄
Anyway, I don't believe it'll happen - the unions are too strong

That's appalling- 30 years! Some poor teacher never got a permanent job because EK was on career leave.

While I agree that the Foley thing is crazy (but I’ve no time for her anyway, and this latest “idea” of hers just copper fastens my idea of her as someone I wouldn’t give the time of day to) and Enda Kenny’s situation was pure nuts (another person who’s very image on TV screen made me change channels, and don’t get me started on his whiny voice) I very much doubt any teacher stayed in that post for 30 years. They’d have used it as a back up while waiting for their ideal job to turn up-as it was probably before the time of the introduction of CID. And if someone was still in that position when CID was introduced-well, happy days! At this stage, Foley should be forced to end her career break and either get her pearly clad self back into a classroom or resign. Lead by example and all that jazz.😉
