Anyone from ROI buying from Vinted?

Does anyone living in Ireland buy from Vinted? And if so, how do you get it delivered? When I was searching, an ad came up for 'colisexpat' which seems to work like how Parcel Motel used to, but the reviews are mixed with a lot of people saying they have very long delivery times so I'm wary of using them.

Damn Brexit!! I used to get great mileage out of my Parcel Motel account, especially at this time of year, I was able to nab so many bargains.

I don't use Vinted but I used to love eBay until brexit sucked all the fun out of it. I used Addresspal, and dd uses it for depop parcels.

The person you buy from sends the parcel to a UK address for UK parcel rates. You pay vat, and a fee I think it's €6.50 a parcel, you can pay online or at the post office and the parcel arrives a few days later. It's been pretty reliable the odd delay but overall I'd recommend it.

Oh I'd completely forgotten about AddressPal! That would work, albeit it's expensive - far more so than Parcel Motel used to be. But I think it would be more reliable than anything else so I'll use that. Thanks Smile

@raspberryfizzy
Are you still using AddressPal ?
I didn't know it was still going.
I stopped after Brexit because it seemed such a palaver.
The customs charges made items from the UK very expensive.

VaddaABeetch · 20/11/2022 10:23

I thought Address Pal was no longer working?

I’ve stopped buying from the UK, I was charged more on customs charges than the value of then item at one stage. It’s completely random.

I see there is talk now of the UK having a relationship with the EU similar to the one Switzerland has with the EU.
That might help us shoppers in Ireland, of goods from the UK.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 20/11/2022 10:45

Well I bought something for a tenner off Vinted and used AddressPal, really just as a tester to see how it goes. I'll keep ye posted!

Just updating for anyone thinking of using AddressPal... don't!

As I said, I bought a jumper off Vinted for £10 just to see how it would work. Glad I didn't spend any more than that. Had to pay €10.50 in customs charges, on top of the €6.50 delivery charge!

Damn you Brexit!

I feel your pain @LifeInAHamsterWheel.

£18 leggings from Love Leggings cost me almost €40.
They weren't even full length leggings 😀

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 26/11/2022 21:00

Oh god @LadyEloise1 that's awful!

An expensive lesson learned 🙄

Thanks for updating! I've found something I wanted to get on Vinted, but not worth it with these extra costs!

Apologies for asking on an old thread - can i ask how did you set up your vinted account with address pal ? I tried to do that and vinted blocked me saying i was committing fraud.

Bloody brexit is so annoying, i buy a lot second hand, specific items that cant be got here and also traded my old clothes too with second hand sellers in UK. I get customs has been paid but why on second had as the VAT has been paid all ready

YellowDiamond · 26/11/2023 14:01

I suggest try adding the AddressPal details through the browser rather than the app. I'm using vinted through my browser as I'm not allowed download the app as it's 'not available on Google play in your region'. I had no trouble adding the addresspal information through the browser. Some deliveries require a UK phone number so I just make one up.
It's really not worth it though really. Between the addresspal fee of €6.50 and then customs /VAT the fabulous bargains on Vinted are no longer accessible to us in Ireland

yeah I did that and they still blocked me. oh I know its not worth it sometimes. but there is an odd time that I will be looking for something specific that have been searching for ages for and it's frustrating to see it in vinted. customs are a bollix and they make it up as they go along I think. it all depends on what the seller puts as the value of the goods too. if its 39 pounds or less including delivery you don't pay anything. vat shouldn't be added as its been paid for all ready

Flippin Brexit.
