Hubby went to the local vhi clinic with a pulled muscle. They charged him 75 euro to be seen? We are new to vhi, he has full cover though work. Why the charge? Can he claim this back? The gp is 50 euro!

It's their standard fee for most plans to visit the clinic. The virtual gp consultation is free. I think some plans include free visits though.

Even though I mostly live in Northern Ireland, I work for a Dublin-based company and I do have VHI coverage. When the VHI clinic location started a few years ago, I was surprised to be charged, but at the time I was told this was an additional cost associated with "urgent care" service not covered by my plan.

There is a "VHI 360" that covers this urgent care service. You'd need to give VHI a call and check your plan. I've kept up the VHI payments, since company pays most of the cost, plus kids are at Uni in Dublin.

There was always an excess to pay for vhi clinic visits. I think it used to be €25, €75 seems quite a jump!
