Horrific case due for sentencing

I've been thinking of the stolen lives thread and then read this. I am in awe of this strong, brave woman who survived such horrific abuse from this man. I hope a man does not fail her again tomorrow but unfortunately do not hold out much hope as Martin Nolan is notoriously lenient on abusive men

Martin Nolan's name is always on these lenient cases isn't it.

Is it just violent men and sexual assault he's lenient with? (I feel I should know - but not sure that its just those cases I notice.)

They are the type of cases I notice him sentencing as well. He has made lots of appalling comments in the past along the lines of little mistakes shouldn't ruin a man's life/livelihood without a thought for the lives the man ruined. Pretty sure he's the one who gave a lenient sentence to a rapist who threatened to kill a woman and her mother and hot her with an axe because the rape itself apparently wasn't violent. He's the judge who famously gave six years to somebody evading garlic tax which further shoes how little he thinks of women and children by comparison.

Came across this blog while trying to find the details of one of the cases I was thinking of. Sadly many other judges are of a similar ilk to Nolan. Hopefully some of them will have retired by now.

It was an awful awful case. I'm not sure if you heard the victim speak, but wow she was very very impressive (as well as being incredibly brave).

As a few of your know, I work in the general area. There is more reporting than at any time in the past. Here is some depressing reading. I was tempted to start a thread on craicnet on this topic when the report was published, but did not want to start something so depressing.
