Hello,

Hope you don't mind me posting here but wondering how easy it is to get to Marley Park on the Luas?

Bumping for you. Sorry I don't know that area particularly well.

LadyEloise1 · 22/06/2022 08:55

Just googled and there is a bus transfer to Msrley Park from Dundrum Luas station

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 22/06/2022 08:58

the Luas stops aren’t very near MP - depending on where you are coming from you’d be better off just getting the bus - normal or one of the private shuttles (assuming you are going to one of the gigs on next week!)

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 22/06/2022 08:59

Although as PP said there is a shuttle from Dundrum

IcecreamForAlcohol · 22/06/2022 10:17

Thank you all 😄.

Yes, we're going to one of the gigs.

Do you know if we can pay by card / I pay on Dublin buses? Or if we need the right change in Euros? We're coming from Liverpool and haven't been to Dublin for a few years.

Get a leap card.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 22/06/2022 10:45

Yes leap card is best bet. But the private buses are the best - think they were more expensive but all lined up outside the last time I was there.

which concert are you going to? Im
going to two there next week!

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 22/06/2022 10:46

Where are you staying?

IcecreamForAlcohol · 22/06/2022 11:06

We're staying on the north side of the CBD. About 20 mins walk from Trimity College.

Going to GnR. Would have loved to see the Chilis too but couldn't get the time off work.

OP posts:
IcecreamForAlcohol · 22/06/2022 11:08

Really looking forward to it. We arrive lunch time on gig day. Stay over and have a tourist day the day after.

So I think the private bus goes from Custom house which should be near enough you. €10 return but much faster than the normal Dublin bus.

www.marathonsportsbooking.ie/

maybe see you there!! I’m going to green day night before.

AnnieJ1985 · 22/06/2022 11:11

If you are staying near the Green Luas line, get the Sandyford or Brides Glen Luas to Balally. I think there are private shuttle buses running from there to Marlay for the gigs. Let me find the link, I am sure I read this online the other day.

You can buy a return Luas ticket at the point of boarding, if you aren't staying long there isn't a need to get a Leap Card (travel card)

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 22/06/2022 11:11

Sorry that link doesn’t seem to work.

bushiredublin.net/bus_service/concerts-events/guns-n-roses-marlay-park/

it’s actually more expensive than I thought! The 16 bus goes from O’Connell st but takes longer

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 22/06/2022 11:18

I would say if you can afford it and are staying northside then get the direct bus linked above. The public bus takes ages and you might be waiting ages on the way back.

LolaJ87 · 22/06/2022 11:21

Definitely use Marathon Coaches - they are the best for getting to and from gigs. I'm using them for Green Day on Monday... possibly GnR as well but I'm pregnant so waiting to see how the weather is looking (don't think I could take 2 rainy gigs on my feet in a row).

AnnieJ1985 · 22/06/2022 11:22

marathoncoaches.ie/collections/guns-roses-at-marlay-park

As pp posted above, but I had the wrong luas stop on my last post. Get off at Dundrum for the shuttle (not Balally)

I wouldn't trust the 16, it is a slow journey at best of times and I imagine they reroute it or terminate at an earlier stop during concerts

IcecreamForAlcohol · 22/06/2022 17:35

You guys are so lucky with that line up in a week.

Add in the Foos and it would be my dream week of gigs 😀

OP posts:
ColonelNobbyNobbs · 22/06/2022 21:13

Haha Icecream I don’t live in Dublin either but I agree. They weren’t originally all the same week though - rescheduled due to the rona. I like RHCP but Foos would be unreal.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 22/06/2022 21:14

I’m on the same island though so that’s handy

Joolsin · 22/06/2022 21:39

We live on the way from Balally Luas to Marlay - I've just Google mapped it and was surprised to see it's a 50 minute walk. If the weather is dry it would be a nice walk for you, but I'd definitely not want to do the return walk after standing at a gig all night!!!

Cyanchicken · 26/06/2022 09:34

The 16 bus which goes straight down O'Connell street will drop you off close to Marley park

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 28/06/2022 14:28

OP did you book the marathon coaches bus? I was at green day last night and it was a nightmare getting home. We were walking round for 3 hours before we got a taxi at 2am. You should be alright if you have the prebooked bus though!

AnnieJ1985 · 28/06/2022 15:56

Oh Christ @ColonelNobbyNobbs what a nightmare!

We could hear the gig pretty clearly from our house, still half tempted to buy tickets for tonight, and walk up

IceCreamForAlcohol · 30/06/2022 09:29

It was really good thanks. Luas then bus on the way, plenty of Marshalls at the Luas stop to tell us what bus to get on. 2 buses on the way back, again plenty of marshalls to direct us.

It was a great gig 😃

OP posts:
ColonelNobbyNobbs · 30/06/2022 09:46

It was good wasn’t it. The Tuesday night was better organised for transport I think. GnR finished a lot earlier than Green Day also so public transport still going. Hope you enjoyed rest of your time in Dublin!
