I would be very grateful for any help - I’m at the point of picking an Irish boarding school Glenstal or Clongowes for entry September 2022 - would be very grateful for any experience or input? Many many thanks! 🙏

Have you visited both schools?

Sorry - I had a longer message written but it seems to have been dumped!

We went with CWC after visiting. We didn’t consider Glenstal as proximity to Dublin/an airport was a consideration for us.

No school is perfect but we are happy enough. In hindsight we’d have wished for ours sons to have access to more than just Art as a practical subject. But, on the pro side, their sporting facilities have improved over the last number of years, they take a broad mix of boys (at least 10% of each year group are on full bursaries with no indication or secretion of same - unlike another school we visited that lauded their “charity cases”).

CWC prides itself on producing men for others and that has certainly been the case with the our sons.

Writing a message on this thread as I’m facing exactly the same dilemma, but with entry in September 2023. Glenstal or Clongowes?

Both lovely schools. I would imagine much of it will come down to proximity to home? And perhaps where your son’s friends are going. Do you have connections with either school?

Thank you, for us is more a question of which school stands out on its own merits. We are far from both and our son would be a 7-day boarder just for the 2-year senior cycle. We have some connections at Glenstal who speak very highly of it. Just wondered how they differ and if one is better than the other academically.
