What's going on with Electricity in Ireland?

We've all been listening to the talk about the increasing prices of the cost of living, I had understood that everything will be much more expensive, having heard the talk about being given 200 euro towards electricity I was about to read into this further more but got side tracked and the same day my electricity bill came in 😮😮😮😮 Dear god, my bill has nearly doubled!! I wasn't expecting that much, I knew it would be dearer but not nearly double, is this across the board with all electricity providers?

I'm with bord gais, never had issues with them over the years. Is this how it is or am I going to have to whip out previous bills and calculator and start comparing?

The principal of the school I work in was nearly in tears when the electricity bill landed this week. It had gone up substantially. Ours has not yet landed but I am dreading it. At home continually since Christmas with never ending run of toddler illness.

That's awful. I felt like crying myself.

There's been so much talk about it but I didn't expect it to be so high. We're not even the type that that are careless and leave things on etc

I don't get bills cos I have a prepay card with Bord Gais. But it has been eating money this winter. Thank God my immersion heater broke a few weeks ago. It can stay that way!
