Passport turnaround for children

Do to a series of complicated events which I'll not bore you with, I have only just now posted off the final documents for my children's passport renewal. The passport office is stating 15 days to process and you've guessed it, our flight is in 15 days. Has anyone had recent experience of getting renewed passports for their children and if so, how long did it actually take? Tell it to me straight, I'd rather know so I can prepare for disappointment and/or see whether I can cancel or rebook without loosing too much money. Thanks

DSs renewal took a week from when they got the documents. I did it online so I think all the checks were done in advance. Hopefully it'll be quick for you too.

i did this last month, is it the online application where you had to also fill out the guradianship form that had to be witnessed? If so mines took 4 weeks. It was very accurate on the track my passport page as to when they would be ready. From the day I sent in all the stuff it said they would be ready 22nd October and they arrived in my postbox on the 22nd October

Yes, the process you described. Thank you so much, that's very useful information.

Their chat support is really good. I had this last year when they reopened, and they were so nice! The guy literally got up and had a look, and came back and was like "yep - it's here, I'll make sure it's done today" and 2 days later arrived here in ENGLAND.

They can't do anything until they physically have it in their hands, but I would get onto their online chat and ask tomorrow when they'll have had the post.

Oh thank you, great tip. Just checked online when it's due and it's due on the exact date of my flight! (Which thankfully is in the evening). Now have to decide whether to change everything and push the trip back a few weeks or hold tight.

My renewal took exactly 4 weeks.
Ds's renewal took 5.
DD's first ever took 4.
All done online all documents sent recorded delivery same day as applications were done.
Started the process last week of September this year & passports started arriving last week of October into Nov.

You are all so helpful, thank you very much. Smile

DS passport took 3 weeks - but that was back in September just after they indicated that half term holidays would be possible - so maybe really busy as a result.

11 weeks for me (going by the estimated delivery date they gave me, don't have it yet) but it was a first passport not a renewal.

Could you move the flight by a day or two?
