Childcare cost Ireland?

I'm arranging a childminder for DS (age 8).

He'll be with the childminder for an hour and a half in the morning and an hour and a half in the evening Monday to Friday. She will be dropping him and collecting him from school. - a 5 min drive from her house.

What should I expect to pay for this? I have absolutely no idea.

Has she not advised you on her rates? Or is she leaving it up to you ?

She is leaving it up to me.

I used to pay €25 a day per child for slightly more hours, probably worked out about €5 an hour on average - some days DC were there longer, some days less.
I had two children in for five days, so it was €250 a week - not insignificant! If you're using CM for only 3 hours a day for 5 days, is €75 a week worth it to the CM? In fairness, there's usually not too much minding on an 8yr old.
All you can do is propose what you're willing to pay and see if it's acceptable- be willing to negotiate if CM counter offers.

I think it varies hugely depending on where in the country you are. There's also a factor of how many other children she has. Personally, I'd hate someone not giving me their rates or an indication - has she done this before? It feels quite unprofessional. Will she be giving him breakfast/after-school snacks? Is that included?

Why does she not have rates? Is she not an established childminder?

My daughter does 2 hours at a CM before school and 2 hours after. I pay 200 a week. I'm in Meath.

I would expect to pay approx 30 euro for 1.5 hours in the morning and afternoon.
