This story has really stayed with me. And made me so cross.

Why did they have the baby in the graveyard late at night??!! I could be wrong but I assume the group are Travellers because they are known for celebrating anniversaries of their dead in this way. I wish they would show as much respect for the living!

It is child neglect... To bring a four month old to a 'party' in a graveyard at night and then to leave her there.. I assume this was accidental, some sort of miscommunication? It's not that I would want anyone prosecuted but I do wonder is child neglect happening regularly in that community? And do we turn a blind eye because 'ah sure they're Travellers'?

Please correct me if I am wrong about this family being Travellers.

Jesus, I’m surprised the child has been returned to the family, I would’ve expected social services to be involved before handing her back to a family who sound like they just forgot about her Sad How sad

No one has suggested they will get a “free pass” because of the community they belong to Confused
You seem pretty set on it being Travellers. Why not wait and see the outcome of any gardai enquiries?

You’re right, but this thread will be deleted for ‘racism’.

Travellers are a sacred caste here who are much maligned and lovely people despite all evidence to the contrary.

Not sure about them being travellers, but how can you forget a baby like that? All night? I’m cross baby has been returned to the family.

The mother wasn't well and went home leaving the baby with a relative to mind it.

Nefelibata86 · 16/08/2021 22:52

@WhatsAppening all evidence to the contrary? Like what? Do you know every single traveller? I’m appalled by your comment.

Well at the moment we don't know exactly what happened, who left the baby , how or why.
