Were ye watching? It was worth staying up though I stayed up to watch the women last night too.

Lovely to see the Irish flag flying high. Fair play to them and all the work they put in.

I caught it on the replay on RTE2. I didn't recognise the O'Donovan brother with the beard and the hair! THE HAIR!!!! How is he coping in the heat and humidity of Tokyo???

Anyway, I am thrilled and delighted for them. I loved them putting the medals on each other and shaking each other's hands...creased me up completely Grin

Skibbereen - the home of Irish Rowing!!!

Thrilled to see this! And yes, I did wonder about the beard and wind drag/resistance. Grin

As they travel backwards in their boat I don't think there is much wind resistance from the beard :D :D :D

🇮🇪Delighted for them.
Not keen on the beard and hair.

Loved the rest of the Irish team giving them a guard of honour into the village.

Apileofballyhoo · 29/07/2021 12:30

Ha just saw them getting interviewed on BBC news and P O D said they've heard the streets of Skib are flowing with porter so they'll all be rowing through that for the next while... Grin

I like the hair and beard!

Killahangilion · 29/07/2021 20:50

It was all anyone talked about in Skibb today and a bank holiday weekend too. Grin

SparkyBlue · 29/07/2021 21:13

I thought the guard of honour by the rest of the team was really lovely .

EarringsandLipstick · 29/07/2021 22:06

It's brilliant isn't just? Thrilled for the girls yesterday

POD does a fine line in self-deprecation & piss-taking too, his mum interviewed beforehand on R1 was very funny about him!

He certainly doesn't ever seem to take himself too seriously! Tis great for a small town - so many kids from rural Ireland never really get a chance to even try different sports because the facilities aren't there, whereas this really shows the benefits of grass roots clubs and what's possible.
