Curly girls in Ireland

Can anyone recommend a hairdresser for curly hair, preferably in or around the Dublin area?

I’m very new to the curly girl thing, and overwhelmed by the details so if anyone could recommend products easily available in Ireland that would be brilliant too.

Check out this place @thelegohooverer, I follow them on FB and they seem to be very good

Do you follow the Curl Maven? She's based in Ireland and often recommends Irish-available products.

But it all very much depends on your hair (very dry or not? fine hair that need curl support or thick hair that need taming?) and exactly what you want to do (natural vs synthetic products? keep it simple vs loads of treatments? quick routine vs time-consuming styling?) so there's no one way to do things "right".

FWIW, I tend towards the natural, simple and quick... and I really like the sulphate-free solid shampoos and conditioners from Janni Bars (Irish company), especially the spiced rose conditioner, and the purple Boucleme gel for styling that can be got from lookfantastic.ie or sometimes Boots. It all suits my fine hair in non-dry curls that would be flattened into a bedraggled mess by co-washing and the heavy cream-based styling products that suit people with thick hair dry curls.

Thank you both. There’s so much to get my head around.

I think I’m the opposite to you @MarDhea - thick, dry and wild.

Then jump on those cream-based stylers @thelegohooverer!

The Janni bars solid conditioners I mentioned are still a good bet for dry hair as they can be used as a leave-in conditioner. I also use mine to tame frizz between washes as well (wet hands, rub conditioner bar between hands like a soap, stroke hands over frizzy bits, style). And Boucleme do a curl cream that is meant to be great for hair that likes to go wild Smile

Good luck!

Ohh lovely thread! Moving to the west of Ireland and a curly girl! Found the supermarkets lacking in the products I would normally be able to pick up my london/south west supermarket's so on the look out for what I can get there. The recommendations are great as to buy from an Irish company would be a bonus! Thank you!
