Hello … looking for some help please… utterly confused and looking for clarification:

Travelling with two children under 8 from U.K. to Dublin for a week in early August.

Do we need PCR tests?

Me (adult) - double jab + had coronavirus
1 x DC age 7, has a positive covid result
1 x DC age 5, no positive result

(And obviously the kids are not jabbed)

Go raibh mile mhaith agaibh!

It is rumoured that new rules are due to be announced saying that fully vaccinated people coming from the U.K. don’t need quarantine or PCR.
Also that under 12s won’t need PCRs.

However at the moment the children would still need to quarantine at home or a registered address for 14 days as they are unvaccinated. They could test out after 10 days. There has been no mention of this changing.

How is the quarantining working practically? Vaccinated adults free to go, no test, children 12 days in quarantine. I would not break rules, but are people actually doing this, or just not planning to travel? We could manage 5-6 days, otherwise it's just not fair on the kids.

It hasn’t been an issue until now as everyone coming from GB vaccinated and unvaccinated has had to quarantine.

Are people following the rules?
I am guessing quite a few are not as a few of the early major outbreaks of Delta were linked to people coming from GB and attending events without quarantining.
There are reports of a particular individual who failed to quarantine spawning over 180 cases in a community.

Thanks guys - I’ve booked the flights now and hoping the Irish gov updates their pages soon. Just a watch and wait now I guess.

Sorry to hijack this thread. We are travelling to Ireland after 19 July but I won’t be double vaccinated yet. Does anyone know where you can get an RT-PCR test (that meets Irish government requirements)? It’s not clear from googling which of the many PCR tests available on the market would qualify. If anyone has successfully used a company for this to travel to Ireland, I’d love to know! Thanks
