Anybody any experience dealing with them and getting a straight answer regarding turnaround times. We sent in our 3 children's renewal forms on the 5th June 2021,it took us two weeks and dealing with three different people to finally get the consent forms sent to us. They started the application process on the 17th June and said an estimated due date of the 30th June. We have tracked it online and one passport is being printed, the other two are still being processed. We have flights booked for the 22nd July and need passports to book antigen tests. Husband finally got through today and we were told the printed one will be sent this week and the other two next week. It's just the stress not knowing exactly when we will have them. Any advice?

Call your TD. This is what a cousin of mine ended up doing.

@mathanxiety, thank you for replying. After three phonecalls to them on Tuesday I finally spoke to somebody who located the person processing the passports and she told them that we had flights booked and that passports needed to be printed ASAP. Received them yesterday morning. I just found their whole attitude disgusting. Two people who were actually so rude refused to give me their name, any update and one actually hung up when I continued to ask for an update. I was in no way rude to her myself, just anxious for any type of update. She actually said its not my problem you have flights booked, we're not expediating any passports.

I think it’s an absolute disgrace that they stopped producing passports during the pandemic. It’s a dire service, I’ve heard of people waiting 5 months for renewals and they are a nightmare to contact. Ridiculous that the only way to get a passport is to contact a TD to chase.

Just as quick question as I’m in a similar situation - what’s a TD and how can you find out who yours is?

geekaMaxima · 09/08/2021 13:31

remine I'm guessing you're not in Ireland if you don't know what a TD is(?) so just in case you're not aware, this thread is on Craicnet and about the Irish passport office not the British one.

Btw TD = Teachta Dála = member of lower parliament. You can find your local TDs here www.whoismytd.com

Does anyone know how you apply for passports for multiple children ?

Applied online & on the forms, it says I have to enclose my passport, birth certificate & marriage certificate but only 1 application per envelope !

Surely I don't have to wait on one to come back before I send the other one away

Abhannmor · 09/08/2021 15:01

My son is waiting for his first passport. He checked with the online Tracker - Awaiting Documents. All of which he sent in weeks ago. Not taking phone calls or walk ins. Webchat thingy not working . 😕 So he's not sure if they really are awaiting documentation. Or they just use that line to mean they haven't got round to his one yet. Or they have managed to lose the Documents. Guess we will never know . I did suggest getting on to his TD. He thought I was joking. But your answers have emboldened me !

Abhannmor · 09/08/2021 15:04

I'd send a covering note with 2 of them? Also photocopy every bloody thing. Get a certified copy of stuff . And send it recorded delivery. See my post below ...idiots Angry

Abhannmor · 09/08/2021 15:05

Sorry that's for @ny20005

ny20005 · 09/08/2021 15:33

@Abhannmor it says only 1 application per envelope 🤦🏻‍♀️

I don't see why they need my actual passport when they can access all the details with my number

I'm not filled with confidence

I got Certified copies stamped by the Gardai when I was sorting out my kids citizenship. You can't suddenly invent multiple passports !

ny20005 · 09/08/2021 16:15

I'm in the UK & doesn't mention anywhere that I can send certified copies. Says original documents only 🙄

We’ve made countless calls to the passport office, still trying to get our sons passport ready for 27th Dec ski trip for our group of six.
First holiday out of the country in a long long time.
They keep saying that they will arrange a call back in 48 hours, been promised this three times they never call back .
Other half was on the phone to them for two and a half hours this morning being passed from one dept to another .Ended up speaking to someone in Mumbai twice !!! We need a miracle 🙏
Passport office appears to be in chaos…
