She's played this beautifully, what an elegant exit!

Oinkypig · 17/06/2021 23:12

I’m loving Arlene at the minute, I’m not a unionist/loyalist but it’s clear now she was holding the whole thing together and I genuinely want to ask Poots “what did you think would happen??????”

CliffsofMohair · 17/06/2021 23:54

It’s rare to see the country united in love for Arlene Foster.
Well played Mrs F.

LucysSkyDiamonds · 17/06/2021 23:58

I can't stand her, but my gods that's a thing of beauty.

It’s amazing isn’t it?? Grin

What has happened? I really don't understand at all what's gone on and why has Poots resigned? Is anyone able to enlighten me?

This Poots was made for walking!

paniniswapx3 · 18/06/2021 08:06

Thanks @DragonDoor but I still don't understand - why did those who supported him turn against him? What were they wanting him to do? What would delaying the appointment of Girvan have given them?

I am from Belfast but have lived in England for over 20 years so this is all baffling me!

MadamBatty · 18/06/2021 10:02

Arlene was really thrown under the bus. A graceful exit. She’s still a young woman & is right to walk away.

This & her vindication against Dr Christian is heartening

LadyEloise · 18/06/2021 10:37

Revenge is a dish best served cold and preferably dished up by someone other than yourself Smile

MadamBatty · 18/06/2021 10:56

I wonder did Poots have just enough time to learn Slan before he left?

LadyEloise · 18/06/2021 11:00

I just hope it doesn't all kick off again.
Sad

Thanks *@DragonDoor* but I still don't understand - why did those who supported him turn against him? What were they wanting him to do? What would delaying the appointment of Girvan have given them?

His party saw the agreement to put Irish language legislation through Westminster as a "concession" to SF without any sweetener for their party.

Plus he was elected on a ticket if I'll discuss issues with the party not just act on my own and then did exactly that!

I do worry now about where this is all going. I notice Jeffrey said the most important issue was the protocol. Not health or education or housing... He's been in the Westminster bubble so local politics might be a shock.

Re Arlene - being treated so poorly at the end seems to have made people forget RHI and her shocking arrogance... but it was a good tweet!

paniniswapx3 · 22/06/2021 21:59

Thanks @hopeishere

Wombat24 · 22/06/2021 22:04

She was on Newscast and it was very clear she was pretty unhappy about the nature of the exit.* She was very good on there. ]]]
