Check Amazon.de

Why would checking the German Amazon domain help?

MyDcAreMarvel · 20/02/2021 17:16

That’s Germany!

I saw this article the other day - it might be worth keeping Prime if you use amazon for small purchases as items under €22 will be VAT-free.

@Ifailed

Check Amazon.de

Why would checking the German Amazon domain help?

Because it was being recommended as a way of avoiding post-Brexit customs duty and/or delays for Irish users who would normally shop on Amazon UK. NB. Haven’t done so myself, but equally I haven’t used Amazon UK in a long time.

We have an online store and used to sell in Europe. We also sell via Amazon UK.

We can't get any products out of the UK to Europe since January because of Brexit.

The low value consignment relief (€22 or under from non EU countries) will be removed soon (as it currently stands July 2021).

ROI has better links to the EU nowadays and trucks are bypassing the UK.

We are just waiting for Amazon.IE to open soon as there is a distribution centre being built there.

We have not so much use for the delivery side since brexit, but the streaming aspect is still very useful if you use that.

I've started using Amazon.de and avoiding the customs charges that way. It's fine as it helpfully translates for you. I didn't use Prime on my order as it wasn't available for the item I bought. It's probably worth keeping it for now then cancelling when you move if you can't use it.

You certainly can use Prime in Ireland at the moment though, if that answers your question @Bid876
