Is 30 free hours ecce available here ?

I've just spoken to a friend in the UK who told me that her child will be entitled to 30 free hours ecce scheme. Does this exist in Ireland or is it 15 hours? Thanks in advance

15 but there's another scheme too outside of that, though I know nothing about it.

Why is it 30 hours there and 15 here? Just curious as to why there is a difference....

We get 2 free years of ECCE here and England gets one free year possibly?

Because different countries do different things. UK has free GP and we don't. Parts of UK has very expensive university fees and we don't. We have a single transferable vote, UK has first past the post. We have a high rate of child benefit regardless of no of children, UK does not (as a whole, I don't know if Scotland, NI and Wales are different). We have 17th March as a public holiday, UK does not. Etc.

Afaik they get 2 years, 15 hours in the UK. Only some families for various reasons qualify for 30 hours.

You only get the 30 free hours for 4 & 5 year old in the uk if both parents are working.I think it’s extended to parents on benefits from age 3 though.
