Fungie the Dolphin

I can't believe nobody's posted about Fungie yet. What do you think? Has he been lured away to warmer waters by a female dolphin? It's been a double whammy for the tourist industry in Kerry - Covd-19 and the loss of Fungie.

He's been around for years, hasn't he. How long do dolphins live, I wonder?

user1496146479 · 19/10/2020 23:15

Still no sign of him

EmeraldShamrock · 20/10/2020 19:35

I suspect he has died. Sad

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/10/2020 19:39

So long and thanks for all the fish...

EmeraldShamrock · 20/10/2020 19:41

There has been lots of upload tributes to him, he was loved. Grin

actiongirl1978 · 20/10/2020 19:54

Isn't it spelt Fungi?

There was a 5 minute segment on him on R4 tonight, they think he left with some whales that turned up last week. He has no crowds visiting him anymore so he's decided to swim off to a better life.

Poor Dingle. I'm sure another Dolphin will come along soon. One of my fave photos is of my children sitting on the Fungi statue!

There was a segment on Drivetime (RTE Radio 1) yesterday, the fisherman & local people were so upset, it was 💔

I know there's a whole business, my brother just said to me that Fungi employs 50 people directly & 300 people indirectly, but it was more than that.

He's about 42 or 43, so towards the upper end of the life expectancy for dolphins.

It's unlikely he went off with another pod. He's known to dislike the company of other dolphins.

Sadly; he probably has died 😕

Omg I'm so sad at this news. Many many years ago when I was a teen & dolphins were my all time fave thing I swam with him.
Hopefully the photo of me waddling down to get on the boat in a wetsuit will never see the light of day again...

Ah it's sad isn't it - visited Dingle a few years ago and saw Fungie (or another dolphin) when the boat was returning from Blasket Island.
