@miri1985 posted this on the FWR board, but it doesn't seem to have made its way here yet.

Report in the Indo yesterday that an 18yo born male identifying as female person has been released from state custody despite declared intentions to rape and murder.

This is quite horrifying. Shows once again, how low down the priority list women are.
Also, it seems there is no gatekeeping whatsoever in relation to gender identity. Even when some one is clearly deeply disturbed, their gender identity must be validated at all costs.

I'm not familiar with this case, but there are many gaps in legislation between what most people would consider "common sense" and legal practice with respect to crime in Ireland.

Sadly, this is very likely a predictable serious sexual assault case in the coming weeks in Ireland. There are too many of these, here we go again.

Looks like the guards were able to arrest G today

I saw this just now www.independent.ie/irish-news/courts/teenager-in-custody-charged-with-threats-to-kill-two-people-39562763.html and thought it was the same person, but seems to a different teenager. Thankfully in custody as well with the guards strongly against bail.

Jesus, even the name is a give away Hmm. Interesting that the judge said whether this prisoner is to go to a women's or men's prison is down to the prison service. I thought in the last case the prison service said they were following court directions? Or have I misremembered that?

Cailleach1 preemptively answered on the other thread!

“The Irish Prison Service must accept all prisoners into custody, into whatever prison that a judge orders,” Minister Charlie Flanagan said in response to a parliamentary question from Aontú TD Peadar Tóibín, on 12 September.

He should not be in a women's prison.

That person was tested by experts in those who identify as transgender and it was decided that they are not transgender because they gave rehearsed answers, however they’ll still be jailed with women.

So a horrifically violent man who is pretending to be trans is being jailed with women, because (even though the experts say he isn’t) he wants to be in with vulnerable females. Another case of, “but that never happens” and “the countries with self id have absolutely no problems”. 🙄

So, my little TRA monitors and those who say women are being transphobic for wanting single sex services, here you go. Either women need single sex spaces, away from male bodied people who identify as trans, because they retain male levels of violence, as men who don’t wish identify out of their own sex, or bad men will identify as trans, in order to gain excess to vulnerable females. Which is it?
