Schools in Dartry

Hi Everyone, I'm really hoping someone here can help with this question and I really appreciate your time in replying. We have bought a house in the Southhill estate in Dartry in south county Dublin but we can't see what primary schools have this as their catchment area. We are nominally catholic but don't feel strongly about what faith school our children attend, as long as it is a good environment. Does anyone have any suggestions. I would go ask some neighbours but with the current lockdown I don't think people want people knocking on their door unfortunately!

A friend lives in Southhill and her dc went to school in Donnybrook, Belmont Ave. I think the closest shools to you would be the catholic school up by the Windy Arbour Luas stop, Kildare Place (CofI) on upper Rathmines road, or Zion also CofI on Zion Road in Rathgar. There are a few schools in Ranelagh, Sandford, the Multi D, and 2 gaelscoils.

Milltown were looking for a school but I can't remember what stage they got to. Worth a google. All the schools listed and in these areas are significantly over-subscribed. The biggest RC school is St Louis' in Rathmines. If you're not averse to fee-paying primaries you have Alex (girls only, CoI) in Milltown, St Mary's (boys only, RC) in Rathmines and Rathgar Junior (I think that's the name - Grosvenor Road so in Rathmines, afaik non-denominational, takes boys and girls). I'd get your name down in a number of schools that you think might fit the bill as you may find it difficult to get a place. Good luck!

This dates back to 2015 but I've no idea what happened.

Hi OP - you can do a search on the Department of Education website here and it will show you all the schools close by (bear in mind it won’t have the fee paying primaries though). Most of them have been mentioned already however. What ages are your children? If they’re preschoolers I would get on as many waiting lists as possible as nearly all of the schools are oversubscribed.

If they’re older you’ll probably have more luck as it seems to be easier to get into nearly every class other than junior infants.
